Zeus X RTA Review

Introduction

The Zeus X RTA is the lastest version of Zeus series RTAs by Geekvape after the release of single coil Zeus RTA and Zeus Dual RTA. First impression

The Zeus X RTA is about 43mm tall from the base to the top of the included 810 drip tip, 25mm in diameter at the very bottom and then it quickly flares out and at its widest point with the bubble tank on it’s about 29mm. The airflow on top is angled down on both sides. To open the top cap, just turn a quarter or so the cap will be off. Same technique Geekvape used in some of their other atomizers. So when you put the top cap back on you just basically spin till it catches and then tighten it. The 810 drip tip on top is very low-profile and wire bore. The extra ultem drip tip it comes with is a little bit taller. On the base you have a gold plated 510 pin that protrudes out a pretty good amount. It’s overall very well assembled and good machined.

Build deck & wicking

The build deck of the Zeus X RTA is a drop-in style deck and you got four flat head screws that makes it easy to build. You can also replace the flat heard screws with allen head screws. The space under the screws spots are exposed a bit so you can potentially trim the coil leads if you want to. There’s not a too much space in the wicking slots on both sides though. Take out the little inner air flow chamber that sits above the build deck with two tabs in the slot catching together so that the airflow is always going to be positioned in front of the coils. It’s basically a honeycomb airflow style on the inside with nine holes on the side and five holes from the top that angles down at the coils. Use the coil included in the package by geekvape, you’re recommended to precut it around 4.5mm using coily tool or hugsvape coil trimming tool. After loosening up the screws you can take your coils and dop them in and tighten the screws down. Then position your coils correctly and glow the them to remove any hot spots. Put on the airflow caps to check if there’s any shots and then you can start wicking them up. Keep in mind with those wick slots as it’s like a floating deck and you don’t want to have your wick too long and touching the very bottom. Just let the cotton slightly touch the bottom threads of the deck. In general it’s pretty simple to build and wick on the Zeus X RTA.

Performance

Performance wise, I like this Zeus X RTA more than the Zeus Daul that came out last year. I prefer the airflow halfway open and I get most satisfied vape with the Zeus X RTA with such airflow set up. When wide open I feel it’s too much airflow and weaken the flavor. The fact that it’s a top airflow RTA, I never had any leaking issue with the Zeus X RTA.

Pros:

  • Great flavor
  • Smooth vape
  • Wicks pretty well
  • Easy to build
  • Hard to leak
  • Good build quality
  • Nice looking

Cons:

  • Not easy to grab the top cap
