How To Prevent Spit Back

how to prevent spit back

As a vaper, most of us have more or less experienced spit back. The experience of spit back can be very bad if the ejuice is too hot. In this blog we’re going to discuss what spit back is, why spit back happens and how to prevent spit back.

What is spit back
Spit back is when you’re having a vape you get some ejuice inside your mouth as you inhale. It’s pretty annoying and sometimes the hot ejuice might even hurt your mouth or throat.

Why does spit back happen and how to prevent spit back
Spit back usually happens when your wattage is too low that the ejuice in your coil doesn’t have time to vaporize, thus all the excess ejuice isn’t transformed to vapor as it’s being sucked through the chimney and into your mouth. In this case, just crank up your wattage a little bit and see if that helps.
Another reason for the spit back is that the ejuice you use is too thin. There’re two different variables in ejuice, VG & PG. If you have a high PG content, such as 50/50 or 60/40(VG/PG), your ejuice is going to be very thin. In this case you’re suggested to use a 70/30 or 80/20 bleand ejuice to prevent spit back.
Besides, over priming your coils could lead to spit back as well, because when you add a bit too much ejuice it’ll actually pool into the bottom. After inhaling 5 puffs, you should be good to go though. Another chance that you’ll have flood coil is leaving it sitting for about a day. The ejuice would have enough time to settle and pull kind of inside the coil. This spit back goes away after about 3 hits.

Spit back can happen to all kind of atomizers if they’re not properly used. MTL RTAs tend to have less spit back problem though, as they’re kind of a silent vape and there’s a long distance for the vapor to travel before they get into your mouth. RDAs are most likely to give you spit backs as your mouth is usually too close to the coils. After dripping ejuice onto the coils, some people would blow the coils while hitting the fire button, thus to dry out the excess ejuice in the surface. Wish everyone a smooth and happy vape experience, no more spit backs.
